Looking towards entrance doorway, from pilaster with phallic symbol in an arched terracotta plaque, as drawn by Gell, see below.
He described it as from the “House of the Little Priapus, Street of Modestus”, but the pilaster may be part of VI.2.25 and not VI.2.24.
We have also included it in VI.2.25.

VI.2.24
Pompeii. Between 1819 and 1832. Drawings by W. Gell.
On
the left, drawing of phallic symbol, presumably in the outside wall of “House
of the Little Priapus, Street of Modestus”.
This
may or may not be from here, as we cannot find any proof of this name, (but see
also VI.2.25).
The
next drawing, "on a wall", may or may not be from here.
The
capital “In a house entry South of the Tower” is from VI.2.18/19.
The
floor decoration is from VI.2.17.

Watercolour by W. Gell of a wall in the oecus in the north-west corner, with painting of Narcissus.
Gell described this house as “In the house of the Little Priapus”, we have not managed to find this location and name, but are hoping this may be correct.

VI.2.24 Pompeii. September 2005. Looking north-west at stone steps.
On the north side of the steps, on the right, was a small storeroom or cupboard.
At the rear of the steps, on the left (west side), was an oecus, (not photographed).
According to Helbig, a painting of Narcissus, was found in a room “well behind to the right”.

According to Giacobello, this is at quite a considerable height from the floor.
The internal walls of the niche were plastered in white stucco.
The niche was visible from the vestibule at the entrance.
